Switzerland: A little country. A great financial centre.

Pictet & Cie
Today, Pictet ranks as one of Switzerland's leading private banks and one of the most important asset management specialists in Continental Europe. The Bank is focused exclusively on managing the wealth of private and institutional investors and on those businesses that flow from asset management, and is organised as a partnership.

Unlike shareholders in public limited companies whose liability is restricted to the share capital, Pictet & Cie's seven partner-managers have collective and unlimited liability for the Bank's commitments over their own personal wealth. They also combine ownership and management of the Bank – both day-to-day and long-term – in their hands.

In Switzerland, only those businesses set up by individuals or as partnerships are entitled to enjoy the protected and specific status of "private banker", a cast-iron guarantee of their independence and a by-word for tradition, expertise and know-how.

Pictet & Cie, originally Banque de Candolle Mallet & Cie, is a Geneva, Switzerland based private bank, which as of 2008 had $378 billion in assets under management.

Pictet was originally founded in 1805, currently Pictet & Cie is a partnership owned by seven managing Partners who stand personally and entirely liable for the Bank's commitments

Founded in Geneva in 1805, Pictet is today one of Switzerland's largest private banks, with assets under management and custody totalling USD 383 billion (CHF 404 / EUR 283) at the end of March 2010.

From its outset, Pictet & Cie has focused solely on managing the wealth of private and institutional investors. It does not engage in any form of investment banking and it does not issue any commercial, mortgage or unsecured loans.

Pictet & Cie is a partnership owned by seven managing Partners who stand personally and entirely liable for the Bank's commitments. As such, the Bank enjoys total financial independence, controls the entire chain of its operations and does not need the approval of shareholders in taking decisions. It abides by the strictest standards in managing the risks inherent to its business, always acting in the best interest of clients.

Pictet & Cie is monitored by the FINMA (Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority) and offers its clients the utmost financial security by having capital adequacy ratios far superior to the legal requirements in Switzerland, already some of the most stringent in the world. The Bank has ample liquidity and does not rely on any external sources of financing for the smooth running of its business.

Lastly, true to the tradition of private bankers, Pictet & Cie hardly conducts any transactions for its own account and acts only in a fiduciary capacity on behalf of its clients.
